I Wish I Was Fishing | SONG

I Wish I Was Fishing
Written by: Christopher Williams

I can't catch a cool breeze blowin' in the air
I've been working every weekend, and it ain't fair
I should've called in sick or said my back hurt
Cuz its too damn hard to fight this urge

I wish I was fishin', 'steada workin' in this heat
A day at the lake would have this beat
I really don't mind if I sweat
But for a Saturday, it's the wrong kinda wet
I should be wettin' a line and dippin' a net
Yeah, I wish I was fishin', but this day ain't over yet

I really ought to be kicking myself
Cuz I work harder than everybody else
I deserve at least a day or two
To do what I wanna do

I wish I was fishin', 'steada workin' in this heat
A day at the lake would have this beat
I really don't mind if I sweat
But for a Saturday, it's the wrong kinda wet
I should be wettin' a line and dippin' a net
Yeah, I wish I was fishin', but this day ain't over yet

Yeah, I should be fishin'
But do you think my boss will listen?
I ought to jump in my Chevrolet
And drive on down to the lake

Cuz I should be fishin' and layin' in the shade
A day at the lake, and I'd have it made
I don't mind dippin' a net
Cuz ya see, that's the right kinda wet
I could catch a few, and I'd be set
I should be fishin', but this day ain't over yet

Yeah, that's why I'm fishin', 'steada workin' in the heat
Yeah, I'm fishin'...

Country Ain't Country | SONG

May. 24th, 2011 | 09:33 pm

Country Ain't Country
Written by: Christopher Williams

The first time I heard Taylor Swift
I damn near threw a fit
I told the DJ to play some Cash
Or else I'd whip his ass
Cuz country ain't country today

I really never understood
What's so great 'bout Underwood
She came from reality TV
Putting pop in my country
And country ain't country today

With the songs these stations play
Ol' Waylon's rollin' in his grave
How did we get where we are
Since we've lost the steel guitar?
I can't hear those fiddles sound
With the drums in the background
All this will get fixed, I pray
Cuz country ain't country today

I can't stand queers like Rascal Flatts
The Oak Ridge Boys never sounded like that
Boy bands have no place in country
I bet there's a few more who think like me
Cuz country ain't country today

With the songs these stations play
Chris LeDoux's rollin' in his grave
How did we get where we are
Since we've lost the steel guitar?
I can't hear those fiddles sound
With the drums in the background
All this will get fixed, I pray
Cuz country ain't country today

Yeah, you know, with these songs these days
Ol' Conway's rollin' in his grave
Tell that DJ just what you want him to play
Play me some Jones, Hank, Willie, and Strait!
Cuz country just ain't country today...

It's been a while...

Mar. 27th, 2011 | 02:13 pm

Boy, it's been over a year since I've even blogged.  It's been two years since I've bothered to write any stories.  How does a writer stop writing?  I've missed it, tremendously.  I can honestly say that.  Two new Jack Canyon stories have been rattling around in my head.  Though, first, I have to re-write Jack Canyon and The Last Revelation.  It was lost when my tablet's harddrive crashed.  I also have a slew of horror short stories I want to complete for a new anthology.  Not to mention the long lost detective novels I had started.  Those, too, were lost in my hdd crash.  Sad to say.  Either way, I think it's time to get back to doing what I loved to do.  Hopefully, I can get it done and get it posted here.  Anyone still out there?

"If your pants are open, does that mean I can just come in?" -Sadie, From Within

Jan. 20th, 2010 | 09:29 pm

Well, I reckon this one little post is kinda late, but came sooner than most might anticipate.  I know I don't blog much, but so much is going on lately.

I rearranged my DVDs in genre and alphabetic order.  With my horror collection being the biggest.  In fact, it takes up the same space all my other genres do all together.  I recently bought the After Dark Horrorfest 3 collection, which consisted of 8 more 8  Films to Die For.  I enjoyed almost all of them.  The Broken, starring Lena Headey, was quite the thriller.  My favorites this time around had to be: The Butterfly Effect 3, which featured my favorite After Dark Horrorfest actress, Rachel Miner, who appeared in the 2nd collections Tooth and Nail, which was my favorite from that group; Autopsy which featured Robert Patrick from The X-Files, Terminator 2, Stargate Atlantis episode Rising, and many other movies;  and From Within which starred some people I didn't know, Thomas Dekker who played John Connor in The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and Adam Goldberg.  The best quotes were from From Within:
Lindsay goes into Adien's home and his cousin Sadie is waiting there.  Lindsay had gone in without knocking and the door was just open.
Lindsay: "The door was just open."
Sadie: "So, that makes it OK?  If your pants are open, does that mean I can just come in?"

I also liked Slaughter and Perkins' 14, with Dying Breed and Voices being the worst.

Today I bought and watched Pandorum, which I thought was good.

Next stop is TV shows.  I got my girlfriend into Stargate Atlantis, which is a great feat.  I allowed her to borrow my entire SGA series.  That's not the one I wanna talk about, though its still my favorite.  I'm looking forward to Caprica, maybe only because the pilot or whatever the DVD movie is called was a cliffhanger.

And now, onto something more important: writing.  I miss writing, creating something imaginative and new.  Or even taking an old idea and putting a fresh twist on it.  I mean, there was Jack Canyon, a modern day Indiana Jones series, which has yet to see its last story, since I didn't post it like I was going to.  I hadn't even finished writing my detective novel.  Now, I have a new idea, based on an RPG I had created about the paranormal world and a team of humans/paranormal beings who try to keep the world safe and the human population from knowing they exist, sort of like Hellboy in a way.  Maybe Hellboy meets Stargate Atlantis or something like that.

On another note, my turtles are doing well.  I worked some on their winter home yesterday after work.  I was amazed at how much the little ones had grown.  I also think I have two boys and ONE girl, as opposed to my initial thinking that it was TWO girls and ONE boy.  So its still just Zoe, Jughead, and whatever "Flash" is.  I bought an additional filter for the pond, so when the summer hits, and its warm, they can live out there in a happy clean environment.  Though, there is a lot of work to do.  I must clean the pond completely before they move in in a few months.  They all look so good, and Zoe is SO much larger than the other two, but they all live amicably together.  I was a little worried, but nothing bad has happened yet.

I think that's pretty much it.  Other than the fact that Apple is making tablet!  I hope they hurry up with releasing it.  I like my tablet PC, but she's getting old.  I'm surprised she's still running, must be my genius computer tech skills.

(no subject)

Dec. 1st, 2009 | 02:28 pm

I guess I should say thanks to xfirefly9x for the lj nudge. I hadn't realized it had been several weeks, 12 to be exact, since I last posted. It's been a long time, and so much has happened.

Currently, I'm sick with some kind of tonsil infection and severe muscle pain. I'm watching Farscape Season Four, which I bought today. I missed this show. Over the weekend I bought a Wii, since Rachael's sister bought one and we played it. I decided to get one. Recenlty I played Uncharted 2 on PS3. It's the best action adventure game I've played since Uncharted. I'm excited there will be a movie about it and a comic book prequel.

Been watching a lot of movies too. That's no surprise since I love movies. I watched Ninja Assassin over the weekend and New Moon the week before. They were ok. I also got Star Trek, GI Joe, the entire Nightmare on Elm Street collection, and tons of others on DVD. Other than all that, I've been writing songs and playing the guitar, for the most part.

Thanksgiving was nice. It was spent with Rachael. I had gone with her and her folks to Knoxville, TN which was a good trip. We talked to her parents about marriage. Now we have to talk to mine. After that I went to Memphis and spent the weekend with them at their home. Soon enough it'll be Christmas. Lots of shopping to get done in such little time.

Anyway, maybe I'll post again. I'm gonna try to recover from this illness.

"Oh Blogger Where Art Thou?" - Shards of my Sanity Blog

Sep. 6th, 2009 | 07:25 pm

Yeah, so my blogs asks such a question.  I'm sure it hates me since I got this girlfriend.  So many things have been going on.  I'm not sure I'll cover them all.

Been hanging with the girlfriend doing couple stuff.  We talk all the time when she's not in town.  she's currently off with her parents traveling until the 26th of September.  So we mostly text or call each other.  I hardly have online time unless its finding recipes or practicing songs on the guitar.

I've been working hard on the guitar.  I'm thinking of becoming a songwriter or country music artist.  Both Rachael and her eldest sister think I sing great, so who knows?  Songwriting has become my biggest source of writing lately.  I have hardly anytime to do it, and when I start writing one, I get picky about the lyrics.  I got my copyright papers in so I can get them copyrighted and maybe someday made into songs.  I ordered an acoustic guitar off ebay with a different design than the one I have.  That was I can teach my dad.  Besides, its the design I originally wanted.  Only cost me $36.  I'm also thinking of ordering a mandolin and maybe a fiddle.

I'm awaiting Uncharted 2 to his stores so I can have a new video game.  I'm thinking of playing Dead Space or Uncharted: Drake's fortune tonight or tomorrow.  I miss them.  I have no time to do it, but it's almost winter, so maybe I will have more time soon.

Been watching Eureka and Warehouse 13 religiously.  I like Leverage, but i hardly get to see it.  I have to catch ALL my shows on their re-run hour.

I guess that's it.

Vacation: Day 1.5

Jul. 30th, 2009 | 09:58 am

How weird to call it day 1.5, eh?

Well, yesterday was the first full blown day of vacation.  I did a lot that morning and spent the rest of my day doing other stuff.  I shall elaborate.  I was awakened by a call from Rachael at 7am.  What fun.  After we talked before she had to go to work, I took my dad's truck and went to McDonalds for a sausage mcgriddle and a hot chocolate.  I had to take my dad's truck to get it washed and the tailgate fixed where Richard, a friend of the family, picked me up.  Once I got back home, I went out to shop around for a guitar.  I went to a music shop, but I didn't want to spend that much on one.  So I went to a pawn shop where I found one in perfect condition.  I spent some time learning the G chord, D7 chord, and C chord.  I'm currently working on learning notes.  Richard has a computer program with 6 discs to teach one how to play.  I might borrow it.

I had to get a stand and some picks from Wal-Mart, where I also found a new book by David Gibbins who wrote Atlantis, Crusader Gold, and The Lost Tomb.  This time the book is titled The Tiger Warrior.

I wish I had a personal strap for the guitar.  Anyway, for the rest of the day I watched Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and played Indian Jones and The Staff of Kings on PS3.  I even cooked dinner, too.  Cordon bleu, rice, mac and cheese, and yellow cornbread.  This morning I cooked blueberry muffins.  Yummy stuff.  That's pterry much it so far.

I think in the morning I will make cinnamon rolls.  The rest of the day is still open to whatever.  Just like today.  Though tonight I gotta do some cleaning.  Yay.  And probably tomorrow night too, just in case I go to Southaven Saturday to do some shirt and boot shopping as well as see a movie.  So we'll see.

Winds of Change Are Blowing Wild and Free

Jul. 27th, 2009 | 07:14 pm

A lot has happened since my last post.  I've been away for some time because 1.) I'm busy and 2.) I have a girlfriend.  We're working so hard to get a much deserved vacation which starts Wednesday.  My plans involve. . . not much.  I want to buy a guitar and learn to play.  Mostly so I can make my songs singable.  I also want to learn the piano and steel guitar.  I also need to buy my new girlfriend something and I need new clothes.  What else?  I'll figure it out.  I definitely wanna see some movies.  Orphan and The Collector are the top two on my list.

The thrilling horror

Jul. 17th, 2009 | 08:41 pm

Well, where do I begin?  My folks went out to dinner with a colleague.  Yes, there are colleagues in the Grass Technician field.  Apparently they went to where Ashlea works.  They got me shrimp, telling her (I think) it was for me.  Apparently she told them to tell me hi and she wants more s'more brownies.  Which I thought about making for the Rachael, the preacher's daughter.  Or mississippi mud cake. . . .  or. . .  i'm hungry for desserts.

so anyway, onto MORE IMPORTANT issues.  NEW HORROR MOVIE that looks promising.  The Collector.  A man breaks into a home to steal something, but ends up hearing someone scream.  Some killer is inside the house already setting traps to keep the women from escaping.  It looked good, so now the burglar is their only hope.  Kind of ironic.

another good looking movie is Orphan.  Some decietful little girl moves in with a family and causes trouble.  I dunno which to watch.  maybe both!
