The thrilling horror

Jul. 17th, 2009 | 08:41 pm

Well, where do I begin?  My folks went out to dinner with a colleague.  Yes, there are colleagues in the Grass Technician field.  Apparently they went to where Ashlea works.  They got me shrimp, telling her (I think) it was for me.  Apparently she told them to tell me hi and she wants more s'more brownies.  Which I thought about making for the Rachael, the preacher's daughter.  Or mississippi mud cake. . . .  or. . .  i'm hungry for desserts.

so anyway, onto MORE IMPORTANT issues.  NEW HORROR MOVIE that looks promising.  The Collector.  A man breaks into a home to steal something, but ends up hearing someone scream.  Some killer is inside the house already setting traps to keep the women from escaping.  It looked good, so now the burglar is their only hope.  Kind of ironic.

another good looking movie is Orphan.  Some decietful little girl moves in with a family and causes trouble.  I dunno which to watch.  maybe both!

Return to Eureka!

Jul. 12th, 2009 | 03:57 pm

Well, what a wonderful weekend it has been!  I should have posted this Friday night, but I was terribly distracted by Warehouse 13!  I can't decide if it's a great show, but I did enjoy it.  I mean, Lattimer LOVES cookies, so what's not to like about him?  I love cookies too.  anyway, that came on after Eureka!!!!  Eureka is LOVE!  I tell you.  It just doesn't seem right to be without Nathan Stark (Ed Quinn), but I guess it had to be done.  I'm impatiently waiting for Jamie Ray Newman as Tess Fontana, I believe.  It's how she is billed on IMDB.com.

I also bought and watched Knowing with Nicholas Cage, whom I'm not a big fan of.  The movie was OK.  I enjoyed the ending. . . does that make me weird?  ***SPOILERS***  Spoiler )  < /spoiler>

I am currently watching The Unborn, which is interesting.  My brother and his girlfriend saw it, and they said it sucked.  My brother is either scared of horror films or tired of watching them.  I told him to watch Drag Me to Hell, which is still my TOP ranking horror film EVER!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I gotta play this Indiana Jones game at some point.  Maybe I'll get to it later.

Failure to Launch is on. . .  Zooey Deschanel will most likely keep me distracted for a little while, until i get tired of Sarah Jessica Parker.  blah.

From SciFi to SyFy

Jul. 7th, 2009 | 10:06 pm

So, tonight was the series premiere of Warehouse 13, which looked pretty good to me.  Enough so to keep me watching.  I figured after Stargate Atlantis was cancelled the SciFi Channel would have sucky shows and the like.  Though, I think they might do well with their upcoming line up.  You'll have Warehouse 13 on Tuesday nights and then Eureka on Friday nights.  I LOVE Eureka.  Jamie Ray Newman will be on that show.  Many may remember her as Cadman.  My first female SGA love.  Later there will be Caprica, the spin off from Battlestar Galactica, which released its pilot earlier in the year as a DVD movie.  And of course, I will give SGU a try.  I'm more excited about the afore mentioned series than SGU, actually.  I guess this name change from SciFi to SyFy will be for the better.

On another note, I have begun song writing, for some really weird reason.  Which means I will have to learn to play the guitar and the piano, I suppose, to actually work on these songs and get them out there.  *nods*

I think that's it for right now.  Yeah. . .

The Fourth of July

Jul. 4th, 2009 | 06:29 pm

Brandon: Ya'll coming to Beth's for the 4th?
Mom: There's gonna be like 20 people there!
Me: I know one person who won't be.  ME!
Brandon: You're not going?
Me: I don't know these people.
Mom: The Grandparents will be there.  They're funny.
Me: I don't care.
Brandon: Ashlea will be there.
Me: I'll go!

Yeah, how Firefly of us.

Needless to say, I went.  I woke up later than I wanted to this morning.  We had to be there at 12 or 12:30 and I slept til 10:30.  I had to get up and shower and shave.  THEN I had to make my S'more brownies!  They were the talk to the gathering.  *smug*  I know this one young girl loved them and talked her dad into eating them because they were "gooey" and "to die/kill for."  Not to mention that ASHLEA liked them!!  I'm quite the baker.  Though, it was honestly easy.  I didn't do it from scratch.  I simply bought brownie mix and made them, then added graham crackers, milk chocolate bars and marshmallows to the top.  Perfection.  I have yet to make a dessert that is not good.  I love baking.

I also went fishing with my brother.  I'm not big on the whole subject of hunting and fishing, but fishing I could get into.  It is sort of harmless.  I mean, at least we're not killing these animals, since my bro is allergic to and does not eat fish.  So we "catch n' release" them.  I caught one.  HE caught like 10. . .

I need more movies.  I went to Wal-Mart later than usual just to grab some movies.  I wanted the Alien Trilogy, but ended up getting something else.  I got Rob Zombie's Halloween.  I also picked up Eureka Season 3.0.  If I could afford it, I'd grab every movie I want to see.  Vinnie Jones is in Legend of the Bog, which online is more than the store price.  So many more I'd love to pick up off the $10 and $13 rack.  Also some novels, like James Rollins' The Doomsday Key, as well as Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith's Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

"Hey, I didn't fight in no war, but the best of luck though."

Jun. 28th, 2009 | 04:20 pm

Probably one of my favorite Jayne lines of all time. Though, there are so very many.

Currently, I'm watching the Firefly episode: Bushwhacked.

Jayne: [referring to a derelict vessel in space] If there's folks on board who needed help, why aren't they beaming no distress call?
Zoe: It's true. There's no beacon.
Mal: Which means it's likely no one's looking to find her.
Book: All the more reason for us to do the right thing.
Jayne: How's about you just say a prayer and we slide on by?
Book: [to Mal] Shall I remind you of the story of the Good Samaritan?
Mal: I'd rather you didn't, but we'll check it out. Could be survivors. But if not, well, then we might as well take a look around and see if there's something of value they might have left behind.
Jayne: Yeah! No, uh... someone could be hurt!

***
Simon: Oh yes, he's a real beast. (looks at Jayne) It's a wonder you're still alive.
Jayne: Looked bigger when I couldn't see him.

I love the beginning of The Train Job. Mal and Zoe get into a bar brawl with some locals (due to them being Independents and the bar people being alliance friendlies). They ask for Jayne's help, who replies: "Hey I didn't fight in no war, but the best of luck though."

This episode, though, reminds me of Dead Space, the survival horror video game, that I now crave to play.

Can't wait to finish up this series. Shindig is a good one, too.
Jayne: What we need is a diversion. I say Zoe gets nekked.
Wash: No.
Jayne: I could get naked.
Everyone: No!
and Safe.

[Jayne, in the process of ransacking Simon's belongings, pretends to read Simon's journal.]
Jayne: "Dear Diary: Today I was pompous and my sister was crazy. [flips page] Today we were kidnapped by hill folk, never to be seen again. It was the best day ever."

Anyway, what else have I done lately?  Not much.  I got a new Indiana Jones video game, called Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings.  I have yet to play it.  I got sidetracked with church and then lunch and then grocery shopping and now Firefly.  So. . . yeah.

"Shiny. Let's be bad guys!"

Jun. 22nd, 2009 | 10:09 pm

I got bored after work and tinkered some with avatars and signatures for a site, but decided I needed NEW ones here! and this was all I got done:

I commented on [info]xfirefly9x 's LJ with a line from Firefly and a made up word that sounds like a Jayne word. For some reason, I got this Dirty Harry idea for Jayne.

As for Kaylee, I saw that pic somewhere and. . . well, Kaylee eating a strawberry makes me think about. . . erm, eating strawberries!

At this very moment, I'm watching Repo! The Genetic Opera. Though, I have this awful need to watch Firefly and/or Serenity. Soon, I'm gonna go to sleep and dream of Kaylee and. . . a strawberry. I can hear you readers judging me! Don't act like you don't do the same with Mal or Jayne or some other fandom.

OH! On another note:

Ain't that cool how they stack on top of each other? It's like: "Lemme on your back!  I can't reach the light!" and the other one is probably yelling: "Stay away from the light!"  Unless he's disgruntled and telling him in a Watler-like voice: "Get the fuck off me, dumbass!"  lol They love basking like that I guess.  I wen to feed 'em and lookie!  Then they were like that again when I went to turn the lights out. I love my turtles.

Zoe's pond.  Yes, Zoe's.  The other two are kinda small, but eventually will be out there.  The UV filter is in, and so is the turtle squirter thing.

If You Can't Stand the Heat. . .

Jun. 20th, 2009 | 10:16 pm

Get a new job. . .

It's been so hot this whole week.  Well, into the triple digits.  And not to mention friggin' ants.  Oh, and Chiggers.  Grr.  I can't stop itching around my ankles.  I wanna gnaw my frickin' feet off. . .  Chiggers being found in tall, tall grass.  They bite ya, then ya itch.  Nuff said.  They're also called Harvest mites, and for our Aussie friends, scrub-itch mites.  *mumbles* stupid bugs.

Though they helped me plot a story.  Yeah.  I dunno what it's called, but the plot is simple.  I had told a friend I had chigger bites, and I wasn't sure if she knew what they were.  But if she didn't, I was gonna tell her they were little parasites that swam up your urethra and laid eggs and then when they hatched. . . well, something would explode.  Yeah.  I watch too much horror, and that idea has me in a desparate need for Slither, which has Firefly's Captain Malcolm Reynolds as a sherrif.

In our midst of all white employees, being 6 white people and one black guy, whom i had gone to school with, there has been some racial humor.  Such as:

Marcus (about the heat): I feel like I'm cooking.
Me: You do look like you're burnt.

Of course, he said I was like a turkey or pork chop (both being white meat) lol.  He and I were in the band together.  He's actually going to Delta State University to become a plastic surgeon.  Go figure.

As for me, I'm exhausted.  It's been one helluva long week.  My legs hurt, my arms, my head, my throat.  I'm sick of it.  At least tomorrow is an off day.  Was hoping for a massage.  Full body.  Anyone offer those?  *smug*

Tomorrow, I think I'm gonna work on my pond.  I need to empty it, clean it, and then fill it up again.  It's become cloudy, because I needed a UV filter to kill the algae, which I bought yesterday alond with a turtle spitter.  Because I have to run the water beind pumped by the mechanical filter to the UV filter, which I hope will work out to being pumped through the turtle water spitter and into the pond.  I'll try to post pics.  Then the water should stay clear.  I also have to put rock around the pond and build a waterfall, cuz I want one.  That's why. :P

Scifi aired Ultraviolet and then Equilibrium.  Too similar those two are.  Gun fu. . .   At the end, they announced something that caught my attention, because I'm a huge HUGE fan of Thomas Jane, after he played in The Punisher (2004) and The Mist, which is an awesome, and shocking movie.  Don't believe me?  Watch the ending!  But Mutant Chronicles is airing next Saturday!!!!  And now Scifi is airing a not-so-scifi-y movie: Dick Tracy.  How inconspicuous is a yellow hat and coat?  Wait, what was I on about?  Blah.

That was pretty much my day, and my plans for tomorrow.  The biggest problem is waking up.  Now, it's bed time.  Anyone interested in joining?  *falls out cold*

"Surely you can't be serious!"

Jun. 18th, 2009 | 09:18 pm

"I am serious. . . and don't call me Shirley."

I have never ever been interested in writing a love story.  I mean, I had stories with OTHER plots that had characters with love interests, but never a love story on its on.  And I've come up with one.  Oddly enough, I'm watching Failure to Launch.  God, seeing Zooey Deschanel in this makes me wanna watch Tin Man, or Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.  Oh, wait.  What was I talking about?  I have too much stuff to work on and not enough time in a day to accomplish anything.  I'm too tired to bother with much after work.  I need to work on my novel.  I need to work on this story, and that story, and stuff.  I've written tons of poems about love and funny ones too. . . AH!  Perhaps I should consult them for knowledge on writing this story in my spare time, which will be sometime between never and ever.

The Continued Misadventures of Super!Ken

Jun. 11th, 2009 | 10:16 pm

Outside the First National Bank, the police are under fire from a robber. Most of them are hidden behind their squad cars as Super!Ken arrives.

Police Officer: Super!Ken, we're pinned down. Aren't you going to help us?

Super!Ken: Oh, hell no! Don't you know bullets hurt?

Officer: Why don't you wear a bullet proof vest?

Super!Ken: It's too bulky and heavy.  Besides, the bullets would rip holes in my pretty purple costume!  We just can't have that.

For Love of Movies. . .

Jun. 6th, 2009 | 09:31 pm

So, the Blockbuster in my town is closing shop and selling everything.  So are other Blockbusters in other cities.  Anyhoo, I just had to see if they had anything worth buying.  I might go back tomorrow, since its the last day for the sale.

I HAD to get the classical Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid.  Though, it wasn't my first choice.  The FIRST DVD I picked up was the one I intended on getting. . .  Feast.  I had seen it, I had loved it, and I had bought the two sequels.  Why not get the first!?  And I have House of the Dead, so when I spotted Ed Quinn's House of the Dead 2, I grabbed it!  I had been wanting to see Resident Evil: Degeneration for some time, since I like the series.  I grabbed it up too.  I also got Pulse, which the sequel has Jamie Bamber in it.  So if this is worth it, I might get Pulse 2.  And lastly, I got Sunshine, because its an end of the world kind of thriller.  Where you hope the world ends, cuz people are idiots.  They ranged anywhere from $9.99 to 5.99, which I thought was decent.  So many good movies they had too.  Lots of classics.  Too bad I didn't spot Casablanca, or Harvey.

Anyone have any suggestions for movies?  I'm thinking of going back to see what's left, cuz well, movies. . . what other reason do ya need?

There were so many movies that I loved there.  The Alien movies.  Predator 1 & 2The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, the one with Dennis Hopper and the legendary Bill Moseley (better known as Luigi Largo from Repo! The Genetic Opera and Otis B. Driftwood in House of 1,000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects).  Any Bill Moseley movie is worth seeing.  Oh, there was also Taxi Driver.  Classic De Niro

Which reminds me, I finally saw Quantum of Solace.  USA has been airing Casino Royale all weekend, so I HAD to see the sequel, but I think Royale is much better.  In fact, Royale is on now!

So please, movie recs!  I'll see if they have them.

Royal Pains

Jun. 4th, 2009 | 09:47 pm

Well, tonight was the premiere night for Season 3 of Burn Notice, which rocked.  I never really got into that show at the beginning, but it grew on me.  For newbies to the show or those who've never heard of it (and should see it), it's about Michael Weston, a spy, who is black-listed, or burned, which means his assets, including his money, identity, and work history, is completely erased.  His hot ex-girlfriend, Fiona, finds him, as does a retired intelligence agent and former Navy SEAL, played by Bruce Campbell (the legendary Ashly J. Williams of Evil Dead fame!).  Anyway, it's awesome.  Weston is a private investigator/spy/mercenary.  The ex-girlfriend is crazy as can be, wanting to always blow something up.

And Royal Pains. . . talk about a a guy in the "wrong place at the right time."  Hank Lawson was a Medical doctor who saved a guy he was playing basketball with, but upon arriving at the hospital that he works for, he must save a millionaire hospital trustee, who actually dies.  Hank is fired and loses his girlfriend, home, everything.  So, his brother, having made plans to go to the Hamptons, takes Hank along.  Hank ends up at some party and saves a girl's life in the home of a millionaire.  From that moment on, he's bombarded with duties of being a concierge doctor by first dealing with a hypochondriac girl who had a car crash with her boyfriend in his dad's Ferarri, but turns out the boy is hemophilliac.  He ends up saving the boy with a MacGyver-like technique, as he did with the gurney for the basketball player at the beginning.  Eventually, Divya, an Indian woman who is to be his PA (Physician Assistant) finds him, and she has this cool set up of gadgets in her SUV.  It's still on, too.  He's finally settling into his position as such a doctor, though he didn't want to be.  He seriously wanted to just go back home.

Two great series right there.  I honestly didn't know what to expect of Royal Pains, but I like it.

And now it's over.  Can't wait for next week!

Life is like a box of. . .turtles.

Jun. 1st, 2009 | 08:46 pm

It's in the things you do, not the things you say that show how you love someone. I can say you're a fat ass, but really, i do it with the utmost love. How can this be? Well, I love my turtles. Zoe is such a big girl, I tell her she's got a big butt. Even though I tell her this, I do things to make up for it. It seems like just a year ago that she was only 4 inches. Oh, wait. She was. This time last week we were celebrating her ! year birthday. And for that special day, Zoe got a pond! See, I love my turtles. Of course, it seems like she's getting further away from me. She used to be in my room until the smell got out of hand. I did not have the money for a good enough filter. So, she moved outside, and I brought her inside at night. Then it got to where she stayed out all the time. Now, she has a pond out further in the yard. But she loves it there. So do the other two.

It's a 160 gallon pond with a filter that will filter the entire pond twice an hour. It's all still in the works, but it works for now. I plan to put rocks around the edges and get a basking spot for Zoe built, because again, she's a big butted turtle who is too heavy to stay afloat on anything else. I wonder how much more I'll have to spend on it.

That's all it is for right now.  In the second pic, you can see one of the smaller guys swimming around.  It's massive in comparison to Jughead and Flash.  Even for Zoe its large, but its perfect.

I hope to eventually have better plant life and maybe some other stuff in it.  I somehow doubt tadpoles will survive in it, but it is possible they will appear at some point in the pond.  I just hope I never find a snake in it.  It's black, so. . . yeah, lets hope.

I'm the Street Physician Carving Flesh Sculptures!

Apr. 18th, 2009 | 08:33 pm

Well, It's been a while since my last post.  I'm slacking.

It's been a rough past two days, I tell you.  Yesterday was the worst, though.  Had to work pretty hard in the morning.  Cut out two hours in the time if normally takes us to do this very large yard.  It normally takes 5, because it has about 8 or 12 miles of sidewalk and not to mention around 70 housing units on it.  It sucked.  Then was lunch.  I was exhausted by lunch.  I think I had chicken breast with other stuff.  Anyway, after that we went to another housing complex with less houses on it.  Probably around 20.  By the time I neared the end, I felt extremely dizzy.  I could barely walk straight.  Everything was spinning.  I felt awful.  Afterward, we had another big yard.  I just couldn't handle the work load I guess.  We had more yards after that.  Maybe it was hypoglycemia.  I felt a little better after a gatorade and a really large oatmeal pie.

Today I feel bad too.  I'm exhausted still.  I had a terrible night's sleep after all that working and I have yet to recover.  I'm having difficulty remembering what I wanted to post about too.  I'm barely talking to any of my online friends, cuz its just hard to concentrate.

Let's see what updates I need to address.

First off, Jack Canyon and The Last Revelation.  I need to post that up.  I might get to that tomorrow.

Secondly, I started a new story.  It will be a novel.  I doubt it gets put here, because I'd like it to sell as a book.  I don't know what the title will be, but the entire premise of this novel and the one following it comes from a Repo! The Genetic Opera Song, "Night Surgeon".  I have a twisted mind.  I actually wanted to write a horror story, which is why the crime is the most terrible thing imaginable.  At least, for me.  It's a slow process.

I rescued a wee baby turtle, red-eared slider) from a yard we were cutting.  I've dubbed him/her Jughead until I figure out what sex it is.  It's quite tiny.  Only about 1 or 1 1/2 inches.  Where Zoe is 7 inches.  I set it up in Zoe's old 20 gallon tank.  He even has a small stump he can bask on.  He's a weird turtle though.  Sometimes he just floats in the water and doesn't swim.  He's just odd.  I caught him clinging to the side of that stump today.  He's peculiar.

What else?  I can't think of anything at the moment.  It's been kind of boring besides what I've written.

REPO! The Genetic Opera ICONS

Mar. 22nd, 2009 | 06:39 pm

***Comment if taking any, comment if you like, comment if you have suggestions and reference me when using them***

*I'm not that good with photoshop, I just fool around with it.  These characters are not mine, pics are not mine.  However, I did crop them, and put words to them.  Enjoy!*

Thankless Job and Night Surgeon are names of songs from the movie.  "No anesthetic" and "monster" and "Graaaaaaaaves!" come from lyrics within the songs.  Fucking peasants is taken from Luigi's last words in the movie something like: "Amber Sweet everybody.  Amber Sweet.  I can't hear you.  I can't fucking hear you, you fucking peasants!  Are you gonna start applauding?  I'll kill you all you fucking mice!"  And starts crying.  I couldn't think of anything for the other two Luigi Largo icons.

Today's Agenda/Future Plans

Today, I shall TRY to numerous things, unless I get too lazy!

First, I'd like to make some new avs for livejournal, cuz I've had these for a very long time.  I'd buy more space for a ton of them, but. . . I dunno.  I'm not sure what fandoms to cover.  Repo! has come to mind.  Perhaps Family Guy.

I definitely need to clean Zoe's tanks no matter what else I get done, THIS is top priority.  I also need to get her some food and perhaps carbon or more water filters.

I wish I had the money to grab either Killzone 2 or Resident Evil 5 for the PlayStation 3, or even a new movie.  Transporter 3 is out, I haven't been out hardly this week, so I'm not sure what other movies are out there!  I've been working my butt off all week, I was so tired this morning I woke up later than usual.  I have church -_- in a few minutes.  Well, it starts at 11, but still.

Hmm.  I'm sure I had more things I wanted to do today. . . like watch Repo! The Genetic Opera, or play some video game like Call of Duty: World at War.  I have yet played Tomb Raider: Legend, and its still in the plastic!  How odd for me.

As for future plans. . .

I had been thinking ALOT on this subject.  As Zoe grows larger, she is gonna need a bigger home.  Such places as Lowe's or Home Depot have black plastic forms for building your own pond.  I think I may do that this summer.  I had thought about not burying, at least, not yet.  They are pretty cheap with the 120 gallon ponds being about $70.  I thought that was cool.  It's the right size.  Turtles require 10 gallons for every inch, and they can grow up to 12 inches.  Right now, Zoe is 7 inches long. ^_^  She's getting big, too.

One of the reasons I didn't want to bury the pond, yet, was because my mom wanted to build a den, and I figured if I built it entirely now, I'd have to redo it later.  All I need is the pond form and a pond filter.  I can always get rocks and plants later, and collectively.  Though when it gets really cold out, I'll have to keep her in.  Captive turtles don't brumate like wild turtles.

Also, with the pond not being buried, she can't escape.  I'll also have to put something around the edge of the pond (when its buried) so she can't escape.  My darling, Zoe. . . She only deserves the best.

I had actually seen a man-made pond at one of the homes we cut.  Not far from here, either.  Like our community, its one of the richy rich folks.  Funny how someone who is in the lawn care business can do this well. . .  Anyway, we can actually see the community, in fact several communities we work in, from our place.  Thank God our little place is wide open.  We don't have anyone living right next to us.  Also a plus is that we have TWO streams on each side of the house!  oooorah!  Wait, what was I on about?  OH!  a pond I saw.  Right.  Well, if had goldfish in it, and ALOT smaller than 120 gallons.  But it had rocks in the bottom, rocks around the edge, a nice waterfall (which was set up using the filter) and lovely aquatic plants.

We'll see how that project goes as the summer progresses.  I hope I have time to deal with it, especially when we're already super busy.  *nods*
